"I did The Craft fairly soon after I had done The Brady Bunch Movie, and Marcia, in a way, is her own little villainess," she explained while speaking to PEOPLE on the red carpet.
"Though she's not overtly a villain in The Brady Bunch, I felt like there were little bits and pieces of her," she explained.
"I really think Andy Fleming, our director, he had seen The Brady Bunch and there's something about how I played that role that made him think I would be a great Laura Lizzy," the Dodgeball star said.

As for McCormick, she spoke with PEOPLE in 2024, sharing her thoughts on reprising the role of Marcia Brady amid rumors of a Brady reunion.
“It's so hard to do a reboot or a remake of something,” she explained. “So I feel very protective of it in a way. It has such great memories for so many people, but it would just have to absolutely knock my socks off for me to want to do anything with it. I would know in my heart.”
“But it was such an incredible show to be a part of,” she added of the original series, which aired on ABC from 1969 to 1974. “And my best memories of the show are the people, the crew, and their families.”
